Workshop: Mastering Microlearning: Short in Time, Powerful in Results.
With shorter attention spans and busier schedules, teachers face a daunting challenge: finding time for their professional growth. Setting aside two-hour chunks of the workday has become increasingly difficult. This engaging talk will unveil the essential principles of effective microlearning and outline some practical examples, taken from my experience, that will empower teachers to benefit from this approach.
I will start by sharing how my roles as a teacher training manager and an active teacher have provided me with valuable insights into the power of well-designed microlearning. As a teacher training manager, my responsibilities include creating learning and development pathways for teachers, encompassing both traditional training sessions, and microlearning modules which take bite-sized steps towards completion. Additionally, as a teacher who constantly engages in professional development from various providers, I can draw upon my personal experiences to implement what truly works best.
In the next stage of the talk, I will be focusing on key principles of effective microlearning. These fundamental principles resolve around the concept of considering the learning time while ensuring a laser focus on the core elements of the studying content, ultimately resulting in improved retention after the course completion. To provide a practical understanding, I will showcase examples of asynchronous microtraining that we organized for our teachers. This will allow teacher trainers to gain valuable insights into the applicability of microlearning for their own teachers and educators.
Next, I will outline the efficiency of leveraging social media as a tool for delivering bite-sized training content to the targeted audience. Additionally, I will share the examples taken from our own practice.
Finally, I will encourage attendees to reflect on how they can apply the suggested principles designing micro training design in their own training practices with educators.
